How Home Ketamine Treatment Works
Ketamine therapy is a powerful and fast-acting treatment option for individuals facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health challenges. At our clinic, we specialize in safe, guided at-home oral ketamine treatment delivered through telehealth, allowing you to experience the benefits of ketamine therapy in the comfort of your own space — with clinical oversight every step of the way.
What to Expect: The Treatment Process
Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation
Before beginning treatment, you’ll meet with a licensed psychiatric provider via video call to review your medical history, mental health symptoms, and determine whether ketamine is appropriate and safe for you. This evaluation ensures personalized care and treatment planning.Medical Screening & Prescription
If you’re a good candidate, your clinician will prescribe oral ketamine lozenges through a licensed pharmacy. We work with compounding pharmacies that specialize in ketamine to ensure quality, consistency, and safe dosing.Guided At-Home Sessions
Once your medication arrives, your ketamine sessions will be completely remotely. You’ll take your prescribed dose at home, following a carefully structured protocol designed to maximize therapeutic benefit while minimizing risk.
Safety First: Our Home Treatment Protocol
We take safety seriously. Even though you’re in your own space, your treatment is guided and monitored just like in a clinical setting. Here’s how we ensure your sessions are as safe and effective as possible:
1. Use of a Sitter or Support Person
We require a trusted adult (friend, partner, family member) to be present with you during your dosing sessions — at least for the first few. This person serves as a “sitter” to ensure your safety while the ketamine is active. They do not need medical training but should be sober, attentive, and comfortable remaining with you for the duration of the session (typically 90–120 minutes).
2. Vital Sign Monitoring: Blood Pressure
Before each session, you’ll be asked to check and report your blood pressure and heart rate.
This helps us identify any potential cardiovascular risks before you begin. You’ll need a home blood pressure monitor — we can recommend reliable, affordable models if you don’t already have one.
If your blood pressure is above our safety threshold on session day, you will need to delay or reschedule your treatment.
3. Set and Setting
"Set" refers to your mindset, and "setting" refers to your physical environment — both play a major role in shaping your ketamine experience.
To support a safe and meaningful session:
Choose a calm, quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be interrupted
Dim lighting, blankets, and soothing music or playlists are encouraged
Avoid stimulants (like caffeine) before your session, and any medications outlined by your clinician
Prepare emotionally — we’ll guide you on how to enter your session with the right intentions and expectations
During Your Session
After taking the ketamine lozenge:
You’ll recline or lie down comfortably
Effects typically begin within 10–20 minutes and last about 45–90 minutes
Most clients wear an eye mask and listen to music to support introspection and reduce outside distractions
Your sitter remains nearby to offer reassurance or assistance if needed
After Your Session
The acute effects wear off within 1.5–2 hours, but you may feel mentally or physically fatigued afterward
Do not drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day
Ongoing Support & Monitoring
Ketamine is most effective when paired with ongoing psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and lifestyle support. We work with you to tailor your treatment plan, track your progress, and adjust dosing as needed. You’re never alone in the process.
